Hanbok-Inspired Cookies for a Modern Dohl Celebration

Hanbok-Inspired Cookies for a Modern Dohl Celebration

This sweet little detail was one of our favorite elements from the celebration.
Custom cookies were created to match the event concept, carefully designed in soft pastel tones inspired by the colors of traditional Korean hanbok. The delicate shapes, from the tiny hanbok dress to the number one and the personalized cookie with Leah’s name, added a playful yet meaningful touch to the table.

Each cookie was more than just a dessert — it became a small decorative piece that tied the entire theme together. The subtle textures, tiny floral details, and gentle pink tones reflected the softness and innocence of a first birthday celebration.

For a Korean first birthday, every detail carries a sense of symbolism and love. Incorporating hanbok-inspired elements into the sweets allowed us to bring a piece of Korean tradition into a modern celebration. It was our way of blending cultures — honoring the meaning of a Korean dohl (first birthday) while celebrating in a way that felt natural to our life here.

Placed on the table, these cookies became both a visual accent and a sweet treat for guests. They brought warmth, charm, and a touch of whimsy to the space, making the table feel more personal and memorable.

Sometimes it’s the smallest details that tell the biggest story.
A simple cookie, thoughtfully designed, can capture a moment, a tradition, and a memory all at once.
